A Third Option For DeSantis

Unlike some liberal political media outlets, we at the Dash Files are unafraid to make bold predictions about the future.  Since our creation in 2022, our predictions have held to be very accurate. We correctly predicted the outcome of every single Senate race in the 2022 midterms, we predicted all but one gubernatorial race correctly (the exception being Kari Lake's loss in Arizona), and while we incorrectly predicted Democratic hold of the House, we were only 7 seats off - better than FiveThirtyEight.  We're ready to call the 2024 Republican primary. This thing is OVER. DeSantis is done.  Ron DeSantis was never going to win the 2024 Republican primary.  He enjoyed a brief stint in the sun, starting at exactly 8 PM on November 8th, 2022, when he won re-election by 19 points against Charlie Crist. Republicans spent the month of November fuming over their stinging losses in the midterms resulting from flawed, Trump-endorsed candidates. It looked like conservatives in ...

Today Is a Big Day For Our Country

Today's date, April 4, 2023, will go down as one of the most consequential days of the year for this country. Get ready, because by the time you hit your mattress to fall asleep tonight, major change could be on its way in America. For just short of eight years, we have long waited for real accountability for our criminal President, Donald Trump. While defeating Trump and his party in three separate election victories in 2018, 2020, and 2022 was awfully satisfying, it has also been gut-wrenching to watch him escape legal justice every time we think the walls have finally closed on this guy. But it finally happened: We got him. And today, Donald Trump will have to appear in court against his will to answer for his crimes. The man who has been considered larger-than-life for so many of his supporters will be reduced to a muted criminal who has no other options than to speak one of two phrases: "Guilty" or "not guilty."  And just over six hours later, polls will cl...

If a Republican D.A. Feels Encouraged To Indict a Democrat, So Be It

The New York Times has never ceased their love for demented "both-sides" opinion articles, and today's idiotic take by Ankush Khardori, that "Trump’s Prosecution Has Set a Dangerous Precedent," is just another addition to the pile.  Khardori argues that it is terrible for the United States to have the first indictment of a President, current or former, be something so small and not rising to the level of "threat to democracy." To paraphrase him, we've gone over two hundred years without tainting the men who've served in office with an indictment, and when we finally break that glass ceiling, it's devastating for the case to be for sex with a porn star. This is intellectual garbage - it's like Khardori's only criteria for "valid crime" includes a requirement that the indictment have poetic justice to it. The crime has to involve death and destruction , and if not, "meh." To quote Justice Scalia, Khardori's m...
